3M - about the company
Initially, the company engaged in mining and processing minerals to produce sandpaper for the booming automotive industry. Customer demand led 3M to quickly expand its product range, developing, for example, the first masking tape for two-tone automotive painting.
In 1951, the first German subsidiary was founded in Düsseldorf. Since 1972, the company has been operating under the name 3M Deutschland GmbH and its headquarters were relocated to Neuss. More than 6,500 people are now employed at the 18 German sites.
3M - Brands and products
The 3M umbrella brand has over 1,000 product brands, bringing the portfolio to over 60,000 products. In doing so, 3M's goal with each brand is to deliver exceptional results and science-based solutions for all industries.
