History
Behind the designation GU10 is the name of the base of a lamp. This is simply composed of the characteristics of the design: G for glass, U for U-shape (mechanical hold in the socket system) and 10 for the distance between the two metal pins in millimeters.
Unlike the bayonet base, GU10 bulbs do not require rotation to fix the base.
George Westinghouse first developed the GU10 socket in 1892, introducing it a year later at the World's Columbian Exposition as an alternative to the traditional incandescent bulb.
The so-called bipin foot standardization developed into the standard for halogen and LED lamps.
Everything you need to know about GU10 LEDs and halogen spotlights
GU10 spots now exist in many different designs. They vary, for example, in their color temperature (cool white, neutral white or warm white), wattage, beam angle, saturation and light output.
Due to optimal technological development and excellent color rendering, you are sure to find the right GU10 bulb for your application in our store.
GU10 vs. GZ10
GU10 and GZ10 both refer to different designs of LED lamps. At first glance, the two designs look very similar. On closer inspection, however, it becomes apparent that the two bases differ not only in appearance, but also in function.
So that you know how to use both variants correctly, we explain the most important similarities and differences here.

The advantages of GU10 LEDs
When converting to GU10 LEDs, not only you benefit, but also the environment. Due to the comparatively long service life (25,000 hours) to the conventional halogen lamp, there is no need to constantly buy and replace the bulb. Should the time come, the LED lamp can be disposed of much easier. So you protect the environment and save energy through lower power consumption (80% less than conventional incandescent lamps).
Due to the same design, even high costs for the purchase of a new lamp are eliminated. When replacing halogen lamp to LED bulb GU10, it is important to consider the wattage of the old lamp. In addition, luminous flux, beam angle, light color and application area play an important role in the choice of the new GU10 LED.
Application areas of GU10 LED lamps
As an alternative to halogen spots and conventional high-voltage reflector lamps, GU10 LEDs are often used in commercial applications. They are particularly suitable for targeted illumination of goods or exhibits in stores or at trade fairs. Thanks to the light-emitting diode, the spotlights generate hardly any heat compared to halogen lamps. This means that even sensitive products can be put in the right light without hesitation.
In the private sector, GU10 spots are used in kitchens, bathrooms, or living rooms - just about anywhere where targeted lighting is desired.
