With more than 7,000 employees in 18 production facilities worldwide, the company does everything it can to meet industry-specific requirements in terms of cable management and connectivity. 

HellermannTyton's history as a leading manufacturer of products for bundling, connecting, protecting and labeling data and electrical cables began in the early 1930s. Paul Hellermann develops a simple yet ingenious system for attaching rubber grommets over cable ends to prevent fraying or kinking.
In 1935, Paul Hellermann GmbH is founded, specializing in the production and sale of three-prong pliers and chloroprene rubber sleeves. Both products are patented. 

1938 Hellermann expands its business to Great Britain in a joint venture with Jack Bowthorpe. Hellermann Electric Ltd. and a number of Bowthorpe Hellermann companies are particularly busy in the post-war period due to the booming (electrical) industry. 

Shortly before his death, Paul Hellermann sells the entire company to Bowthorpe. Under the new management, the company quickly takes over plastic injection molding and extrusion technology and is able to profit from the rise of the plastic cable tie. 

At the beginning of the 1960s, Bowthorpe Hellermann implements plastic injection molding technology with the experience it has gained to date. Following the takeover of a manufacturer of thermoplastic cable ties, its Insulok LK series is taken as the basis for the T series, which is still produced by HellermannTyton today.

In the meantime, the German side of the business under Heinrich Kabel continues to build on the inventor's legacy. In 1965, the successful “Tyton” system was introduced, a bundling tool with endless tape. This developed into the “Kabelrap” cable tie and, a little later, the KR application tool. These products are still extremely popular today. 
The sister companies opened in the USA in 1969 and in Japan in 1970 are named “Tyton” after the successful system. 

In the years that followed, the company's fortunes soared - technological progress led to increasing demand for the specialized wire harness components. The range is extended to include customer-specific product developments and Hellermann expands into 27 countries by the end of the 1990s in order to provide sufficient production capacity for the high demand. 

In the new millennium, the uniform company name HellermannTyton is introduced. In addition, numerous other subsidiaries are opened in order to adapt production capacity to the continuing increase in demand.
