Apparent power

The apparent power S is composed of the active power and the reactive power. In AC theory, it refers to the power that a source must provide to the consumer. The apparent power is described in the unit volt-ampere (VA).

Notice:

- Apparent power = active power + reactive power

- Apparent power = power with which the grid is loaded - it must be designed according to the apparent power
